By the National Clergy Council President Rev. Dr. Allen Church
At our 2024 National Clergy Council meeting on Capitol Hill, we issued a clear and prophetic declaration in response to the accelerating rise of antisemitism. The NCC unequivocally renounces all hatred directed toward the Jewish people, recognizing such hostility as a direct contradiction of biblical truth and the redemptive purposes of God revealed in Jesus Christ. We call upon Christians to stand courageously in defense of Jews who are persecuted and threatened. With moral clarity and spiritual resolve, we commit ourselves to advancing a Christian society in which antisemitism is confronted, restrained, and ultimately diminished. We resolutely repudiate antisemitism in every form.
The Bible is the God-given standard for all matters of faith and life. In terms of our Christian duty to protect the Jewish people we can note how the Bible speaks by implication to our solemn duty.
And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
Genesis 12:3 (KJV)
Through Jesus Christ we are descendants of Abraham and the gospel promises made to him. We are covenant family in the Abrahamic line based on the promises of our Triune God: Father, Son, Holy Spirit. On a gospel basis of our life in Christ we are to joyfully and lovingly embrace our Jewish brothers and sisters. That is one of many ways to stay tight with Jesus.
