"I think the current divisions are partly the fault of the people in my party for not engaging the Christian evangelical community in a serious discussion of what it would take to promote a real culture of life," Former-President Bill Clinton - Fox News, Nov. 10, 2004

Democratic Party leaders will meet in Orlando, Florida this week to discuss the future and talk about possible replacements for chairman and other offices. There are reports that strong voices within the Party want a re-examination of certain platform positions such as those on abortion, same-sex "marriage" and the role of religion in public life.

On the day after the elections, National Clergy Council president Rev. Rob Schenck warned the Democratic Party about their stand on the paramount moral issues in a statement released by the Council the day after the elections:

It could be that the Democrats got the message. Harry Reid, the newly elected minority leader of the U.S. Senate, one of only two significant Democrat leadership posts now held in federal government, is a Mormon and has asserted that he is pro-life. Senator Reid, who replaces extreme liberal Tom Daschle (who was defeated by Evangelical Christian believer John Thune), this weekend gave a qualified endorsement of U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice Antonin Scalia for chief justice should William Rehnquist step down.

Justice Scalia, a traditional Catholic Christian, is arguably one of the most conservative justices on the Court and has been a vociferous critic of Roe v. Wade and all other court actions legalizing abortion.
