National Clergy Council President and newly minted head of the Committee on Church and Society, Rev. Rob Schenck, addresses the Evangelical Church Alliance's Annual Conference in 2005..

Schenck Appointed as Spokesman on Critical Issues

The Reverend Rob Schenck (pronounced SHANK), president of the Washington, DC based Christian outreach Faith and Action, has been elected to his third term on the board of directors for the Evangelical Church Alliance (ECA). Founded in 1885, the ECA is the oldest continuous association of Evangelical clergy, churches and religious institutions in the United States.

The ECA is regarded as more conservative than the larger and better known, but much younger compliment, the National Association of Evangelicals.

Rev. Schenck was also appointed to head the ECA's newly created Committee on Church and Society, charged with formulating and releasing to the public official ECA positions on critical spiritual, moral and cultural issues.

Rev. Schenck is attending the ECA International Convention in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. He will address ECA conferees today before leaving for Houston, Texas, where he will host a luncheon for church leaders as part of his other duties as president of the National Clergy Council, a separate organization that includes Catholic, Evangelical, Orthodox and Protestant members.
